Voice effects on console, no PC.
Plug in VMKey, open the Voicemod app on your phone, and talk as anyone you want on Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.
This quick guide shows how to connect Voicemod Key (VMKey) to Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 so your phone runs the real-time voice changer while your console receives the processed microphone audio.
Xbox Series X|S
Step 1: Connect VMKey to your phone and open Voicemod
Plug VMKey into your smartphone. Launch the Voicemod mobile app and wait a moment until it detects VMKey. Keep the app open; it will process your voice live.
Step 2: Cable VMKey to your Xbox controller
Use the included 3.5 mm TRRS audio cable. Connect one end to VMKey’s Controller jack and the other end to the 3.5 mm headset port on your Xbox wireless controller.
Step 3: Plug your gaming headset into VMKey
Connect your headphones with microphone to VMKey’s Headset jack. Your mic audio goes into Voicemod on the phone, then the processed voice is returned to the controller and into Xbox party/game chat.
Step 4: Check Xbox audio chat settings
Open Xbox audio settings and make sure the input is your Headset microphone. Join a party or voice-enabled game and speak—adjust phone volume and in-game mic levels if your voice is too quiet or loud.
Tip: If others hear you very softly, raise your phone’s media volume and slightly lower the Xbox mic monitoring or in-game mic boost until it’s clear.

Nintendo Switch 2
Step 1: Connect VMKey to your phone and open Voicemod
Plug VMKey into your smartphone and open the Voicemod app. Wait for the connection confirmation and keep the app running.
Step 2: Link VMKey to the console’s headset input
Use the included 3.5 mm TRRS cable from VMKey’s Controller jack to the console’s headset input. If your setup requires USB-C, attach a USB-C ↔ 3.5 mm audio adapter to the console, then plug in the cable.
Step 3: Plug your headset into VMKey
Connect your headphones with mic to VMKey’s Headset jack. Your processed voice will be sent to the console as if it were a standard headset mic.
Step 4: Enable voice chat in supported games
Launch a title that supports in-game voice chat and enable its voice options. Speak to test—adjust the phone’s media volume and the game’s mic level until your voice sounds natural.
Note: Voice chat availability varies by game. VMKey delivers your mic audio to the console; the game must support voice chat to hear you in lobbies or matches.

That's it! You’re ready to talk with effects on console. Use the Voicemod app on your phone to switch voices, trigger sounds, and control volume in real time while you play.
