This guide will show you how to unmute any audio device on Windows 10 or Windows 11, whether it’s an input device like a microphone or an output device like headphones or speakers.
How to unmute an audio device
Follow these steps to unmute your audio device in Windows:
1. Open the Windows sound settings
Go to: Windows Menu → Settings → System → Sound
2. Find your audio device
Locate the audio device you want to check and open its settings.
3. Unmute the device
If the device is muted, click the mute icon to unmute it.
4. Raise the volume if needed
Once the device is unmuted, make sure its volume is set high enough to work correctly.
5. Test the device again
Try using the microphone or playing audio again to confirm the issue is solved.
