This guide will show you how to install and configure any Voicemod VST from Elgato Marketplace so you can explore how it enhances your audio experience!
Step 1: Preparation
-
Install Wave Link: Download and install Wave Link from here.
Wave Link 3.0 is free and works with any microphone or audio interface your computer recognizes. -
Download and Install any Voicemod VST Voice FX plugin: Download and install 'em from Elgato Marketplace.
On Windows, you can browse and install Marketplace audio effects directly from inside Wave Link. On macOS, Marketplace opens in your default browser. -
Make sure you download the correct version for your operating system.
Wave Link uses VST3 on Windows and AU on macOS.
Step 2: Initial Setup
Wave Link 3.0 uses a new routing table layout: your inputs are shown on the left, and your mixes are shown across the top. You can create up to 5 mixes, and each input can have its own effects chain.
1. Open Wave Link and locate your Microphone input
- Launch Wave Link on your computer.
- Locate your microphone channel in the Wave Link interface.
The Inputs area on the left side of the mix view. - If you haven’t added it yet, create or select a mix, then click the + button to add your microphone as an input channel.
Wave Link 3.0 supports microphones, interfaces, capture cards, apps, and virtual channels as inputs. - Once your microphone is visible in Wave Link, click on that input channel so it will open its settings.
In Wave Link 3.0, audio effects are added directly to the input

2. Add your Voicemod VST Audio FX to your Microphone input
- With your Microphone input selected, click on the Effects button. Then, choose Add Effect.
- Navigate to Voicemod Inc. under available effect providers.
- Select your desired Voicemod VST Audio FX from your installed plugins.
Wave Link 3.0 lets you apply effects on a per-input basis, so your mic can have its own voice effect chain without affecting your other channels.

3. Setup your VST Voice FX
- Once added, click on the VST Voice FX plugin window and start tweaking.
This part will vary a little depending on which Voicemod Voice FX you’re using, but the setup flow is always the same: add it to your mic input, open the effect, and dial in the sound you want. - Play with the available effect parameters and adjust them to fully customize your voice.
- Test your voice and fine-tune the settings as needed.

Example setup idea: Lil’ Mod Voice FX
If you’re using Lil’ Mod Voice FX, you can play around with its Voicetune effect, pitch down, chorus, reverb, and background music to build that full rap-star energy.
Note: If you combine your Voicemod VST FX with other input effects like noise reduction, EQ, or compression, you should place the VST FX last in the audio chain for the best experience.
4. Verify the effect is active
Once your Voicemod VST FX is set up, make sure it’s actually active on your mic input. In Wave Link 3.0, effects live directly on the selected input, and any effects you apply there carry through to your Wave Link mixes. That means your stream, recordings, or routed outputs will receive the processed version of your voice.
- Close the plugin window and ensure that your VST Voice FX is enabled in the Effects section of your microphone.
- Effects button should be GREEN.

- Speak into your microphone and monitor the output to hear the applied effect.
- Use monitoring or Sound Check to hear the result before you go live.
Elgato’s Wave Link 3.0 docs specifically recommend using Sound Check to record your voice and test effects before streaming or recording. - Toggle the effect on and off to confirm the difference is clearly audible.
- Make any final adjustments until the Voice FX feels balanced with your overall audio setup.
Note: If you’re using multiple mixes, double-check that your microphone input is routed to the mix you actually want to use. Wave Link 3.0 lets you create separate mixes for stream, chat, personal monitoring, VOD, and more, so it’s worth making sure your processed mic is going exactly where you want it.
