Audio routing and mixing can sometimes feel complicated—but don’t worry! The Voicemod Support Team is here to help you get everything working smoothly.
With the release of Wave Link 3.0, Elgato introduced a major update: you can now use Wave Link with any microphone, not just Elgato devices. This makes it a great companion for Voicemod, allowing you to easily manage and route your audio sources.
This guide will walk you through how to configure Wave Link 3.0 together with Voicemod for flexible audio control.
1. Voicemod configuration and Install Wave Link 3.0
First, download and install Wave Link 3.0 using the following link:
Once the installation is complete, make sure that Voicemod still has your main Input and Output devices selected:
(when you install Wave Link, it will also create some input and output devices; we will not use these on Voicemod)
Having taken this into consideration, we want now to open Wave Link.
2. Understanding Channels and Mixes
On the left sidebar, click Mixes.
Inside this panel, you will see two key elements:
Channels (left grid)
These represent the sources of your audio, such as:
Microphone
Discord
Games
Music
Voicemod
Mixes (top grid)
These determine where the audio is routed.
For example, in the setup shown above we have already configured the following channels:
Voicemod Microphone
Discord
Games
Music
Adding a Volume slider where both grids meet will allow you to listen to that Channel on that Mix.
Before setting this up, we recommend removing the default channels that Wave Link creates automatically so you can start with a clean configuration.
3. Adding Voicemod as a Channel
Next, we will add your Voicemod microphone.
Click Create Channel
Select Voicemod Virtual Audio Device (WDM)
This allows you to separate your microphone from other audio sources, such as:
Games
Music
Videos
Applications
(In the image below we have set the Voicemod microphone to only be heard in the Chat Mix)
5. Understanding the Three Mixes
Wave Link provides three main mixes:
Chat Mix
Here we will add the microphone channel (as shown above), you will use this mostly on Communication platforms and games Voice Chat.
Stream Mix
Here we add all other audio sources such as:
Games
Discord
Music
System sounds
Personal Mix
The audio you hear locally through your headphones, add any channel you wish to hear on your side.
We will be using the "Chat Mix" as our main Input, while the "Stream Mix" is where all the rest of our audio will display.
6. Setting Up OBS
Now we will configure OBS to capture both mixes.
Open OBS
Go to Settings → Audio
-
Add two Mic/Auxiliary Audio devices:
Chat Mix
Stream Mix
After adding them, your OBS Audio Mixer should look similar to this:
While on Discord your input and output devices would look something like this:
7. Final Result
With this setup:
Chat Mix will contain your Voicemod microphone
Stream Mix will contain all other audio
Wave Link will now act as your central audio control panel, allowing you to:
Adjust volumes for each source
Route audio between mixes
Apply effects or balance your audio before it reaches OBS
And that’s it! You should now have Voicemod and Wave Link 3.0 working together, giving you flexible control over your microphone and audio sources.
