Do you want to use Voicemod v3 but don't want to lose all your custom content from v2?
Voicemod V3 is the next generation of the Voicemod desktop app for PC and Mac — rebuilt from scratch for a faster, smoother, and more powerful experience.
If you’re coming from V2, this article will guide you through how to migrate your data safely using our new Migration Tool, and what you should know before switching to the new experience.
🎯 Before You Start
Before you begin, make sure you have a backup of your Voicemod V2 data.
You can learn how to create one here:
👉 How to export and import settings
Once you’ve exported your backup file (.VS2), follow these steps:
🔢 Step-by-Step Migration Guide
Close Voicemod V2 completely.
Make sure it’s not running in the background.Download Voicemod V3:
👉 https://www.voicemod.net/en/dwl/app/Install* and log in using your Voicemod account.
*Although we recommend that once this process is complete and you are fully comfortable with v3, you uninstall v2 completely, both can be installed at the same time.If your PRO status isn’t recognized:
Don’t worry! You won’t need to pay again. Your PRO license may be linked to a different email.
Follow these steps to recover it: 👉 How to Activate/Reactivate your PRO accountGo to
Settings → General → Import from V2.Click Import File and select your
.VS2backup file.-
Press Start* to begin the import.
*Once you click Start**, it can’t be canceled, and you won’t be able to use Voicemod during migration.
**Just starting this process can take up to 1" per GB. It seems like it's not doing anything; there's no visual feedback, but it's trying to open your backup file for processing.
⚠️ Once the process begins, depending on the size of your backup (especially if it’s several GBs), this process may take up to 1 minute per GB. Please be patient.
- Once the process is complete, a summary of what has been exported will appear and Voicemod will reload to upload all your v2 content.
📦 What’s Migrated and What’s Not
✅ Migrated:
Custom soundboards (except empty ones)
Custom sounds* and their images
*As with v2 backups, the Voicemod sounds you had in your custom soundboards are not exported. They will appear as import errors in the error list.Custom voices (they’ll appear in your Voicelab or at the bottom of your voice list)
⚠️ Not Migrated:
Custom voice images
Audio/sound settings
Keybinds
Voicemod general settings
Stream Deck buttons*
*Once you import your content into v3, you will need to redo all the buttons on your Stream Deck.
🚫 Cannot Be Migrated:
-
Sounds longer than 8 minutes*
*Normally, all these errors that appear during import will be due to this. Duplicated voices
Favorite voices
💡Things to Keep in Mind
During migration, all your custom voices, sounds, and sound images are uploaded in bulk to our cloud servers.
-
The process time depends on your internet connection speed and the size of your
.VS2file.
