Moving to Voicemod V3 without losing your creations? Back up V2 first, then bring your content across.
Before you start
Create a .VS2 backup of your V2 content before migrating. If you need the backup steps, see how to export V2 settings and content.
Move your content to V3

Close Voicemod V2
Exit V2 completely, including any background process.

Download and open V3
Download Voicemod V3, install it, and sign in with your Voicemod account.

Open the migration tool
In V3, go to Settings → General → Import from V2.

Choose your backup
Select Import File and open your .VS2 backup.

Start the import
Select Start and wait for the migration summary. Voicemod will reload to bring in your content.
Give the import time to finish
Once you select Start, the import cannot be canceled and Voicemod is unavailable until it finishes. Large backups can take about a minute per GB. The initial file-opening step may show little or no progress.

Voicemod sounds from your V2 custom soundboards are not included in a V2 backup and may appear as import errors. Recreate Stream Deck button assignments after migrating.
After the migration
Your custom voices, sounds, and sound images upload to your Voicemod account during migration. The time depends on your backup size and internet connection. If an eligible audio file fails to import, wait and try again.
PRO access missing in V3?
Check that you signed in with the account linked to your PRO license. You do not need to buy it again simply because you moved to V3.
Features and controls that changed
- V3 stores custom content in the cloud and requires an internet connection; it no longer has V2’s Resilient Mode.
- V3 has a redesigned interface, improved performance and audio processing, account-based content sync, and shareable soundboards.
- Some V2 controls are unavailable, including disabling keybinds, mouse-button keybinds, favorite voices, and several push-to-voice or push-to-mute actions.
- The Audio Mixer replaces some bottom-bar controls. Mute feedback and advanced audio behavior also differ from V2.
- System tray and Stream Deck actions are more limited in V3; recreate your Stream Deck button assignments after import.
- Some third-party integrations still need updates. Check compatibility before relying on a V2 integration in V3.
